Thomas is originally from Mobile, Alabama (a city not known for it’s love of Spanish football). He is relatively new to Madridismo as he became a fan on his first visit to the Estadio de Santiago de Bernabéu in 2011 for Real Madrid’s match against Getafe. He describes his experiences that day as love at first site. Since then, he’s made up for lost time. In addition to watching Los Vikingos and frequently visiting RMCF message board communities, Thomas also reads as much as possible about the proud history of Real Madrid.
Favorite player of all time: Zinedine Zidane
Best memory of Real Madrid: “Of course it is my first game at the Bernabéu. The match itself was a fantastic experience, but the events before and after strengthened my resolve to become a Madridista. From watching the bus arrive to fanfare to enjoying rioja and jamon after the match at Museo de Jamon (mere blocks from the stadium) or listening to a child (in full kit) recount the goals with his father. It was a magical night that won my heart. My wife and I visited Barcelona before our trip to Madrid. We had friends there who told us they might be able to get me a signed shirt from a FCB player. But no signed shirt could compete with my experiences in Madrid. No club can compete for my attention with the greatest club in the history of the sport. Other than that experience, it has to be CR7’s ‘calma, calma’ goal at the Camp Nou to seal the 32nd La Liga title.”
Dream with Real Madrid: “To hold up a Pena Madridista Atlanta scarf inside the Bernabéu while attending el Clasico.’”
